Grace is ‘Chen’ in Hebrew and ‘Charis’ in Biblical Greek.  Theologically understood as the unmerited favor of ADONAI. It is translated as ‘acceptable, benefit, favor, gift, graciousness, joy, liberality, pleasure, and thanks' in the KJV. ( Luke 1:30; 2:40, 52; 4:22;  John 1:14,16).[1]  Grace is a part of ELOHIM’S character, often defined as His favor towards the unworthy.

Until we came to the Messiah, we were all unworthy, with no way out of the death penalty for our sins. But He has loved with an everlasting love, so therefore He saved us by the free gift of Grace through faith in His Son Yeshua. (Eph 2:8; 3:2,7; 1 Cor 3:10). It did cost Yeshua His life and immense suffering to give us this grace.[2]

The Hebrew meaning of "grace" is wonderfully insightful and awe-inspiring. The verbal root means ‘to pitch a tent’ or ‘to camp’. (Genesis 26:17; Exodus 14:20). The tents were set up in a circle and served as a ‘wall’.  The Hebrew letter het was a picture of a wall that separates the inside from the outside and provides protection. The Hebrew letter nun is depicted as a sprouting seed and represents continuity. Together, these letters mean ‘a wall that continues’.

The second verbal root, HNN, means ‘have mercy’ or ‘be merciful’ and is connected with healing, help, raising, finding refuge, and strength/salvation. ( Psalms 6:2; 30:10; 41:10; 57:1, 86:16). Proverbs 17:8 translates this word as ‘precious’ and in Proverbs 11:16 as grace or beauty of a woman.

Thus, the Hebrew view of grace is ‘a precious and beautiful place of continuous protection’.

This is mind-boggling. So amazing. That YHWH ADONAI has, before the creation of the world, put in place His love in such a concrete and sure way. This precious and beautiful place of continuous protection can only be in ELOHIM. It is not a physical place because it would not endure. Instead, the only place to find eternal safety, comfort, love, and life is in Yeshua Messiah.[3]

It is my fervent prayer that you live in this place called grace.
